Please find below the programmed dates for the works on the A34/M40 Junction 9 Wendlebury Improvement. The dates are the most current estimates of when the works will happen but are susceptible to changes as the works progress. The information given below relates to the traffic management arrangements during the day and night.
The Project concerns the slip-roads, the roundabout and side roads - not the main carriageway of the Motorway. The strategy is to maintain two lanes through the works during day time; narrowing to one lane and closures will take place at nights only.
The A34 southbound embankment is now widened and the additional third lane is being built. Two narrow running lanes (with steel barriers for road user and workforce safety) will remain for the safe completion of kerbing/ drainage/ paving works).
Works from late October until December include various night-time lane closures and junction closures to adjust kerb lines and to resurface the widened southbound A34 and around the gyratory. The renewed white lines will then provide M40 Oxford – bound traffic with an additional (third) full-width lane up the M40 southbound off-slip, around the gyratory and down the southbound A34 for a distance of 600 metres.
To avoid inconvenience to road users the planned new Traffic Light installation has been brought forward by including it in the current works – with completion before Christmas.
To better control the flow of traffic, and to provide a safer environment for road users and the workforce, a 40mph speed limit will be in place with a 10mph convoy system introduced for night work where required for safety.
Traffic Management arrangements for the coming week will be:
