    Bicester Town

    The town of Bicester dates back to the seventh century following the establishment of the Augustian Priory in the late twelfth century. The town soon became recognised as a prosperous business centre for the surrounding agricultural area.

    Today it is one of the fastest growing economic areas in the country with a wide cross section of business. Some of the country’s major companies have their main base at Bicester.

    There is a wide range of housing available to buy and to rent, good education facilities and probably most important of all is that it is easily accessible whether by public or private transport to most areas of the country.

    Bicester maintains its market town atmosphere today with a market still held every Friday in the Market Square and Bicester's Farmers Market held every second Thursday in the month in Sheep Street.

    There are a number of small shopping malls such as Crown Walk, Dean’s Court, Gobles Court and Evan’s Yard.

    The main shopping area is an attractive pedestrianised thoroughfare with a variety of shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. The town centre has evolved over the years: many of the shops are still family run businesses although there is a growing number of multinationals appearing on Sheep Street.
