What Is Bicester Vision?

Bicester Vision, created in late 2007, is an independent public/private partnership committed to bringing together all stakeholders in the town to ensure that the most is made of the exciting future for the town.

Bicester Town

By bringing together all three tiers of local government with key business representatives the aim is to engage with the people of Bicester to ensure that it continues to be a great place in which to live, work and play.

Growth of the town:

Bicester has grown in size substantially over the last two decades and it is anticipated that there will be substantial housing and business growth over the next 30 years.

Bicester Town

Bicester Vision is determined to ensure that the town is ready to meet the demands of its existing population and all new Bicester residents and organisations. The most effective way to do this is by working closely with our partners and other stakeholders in the town.

There are currently plans in place by Cherwell District Council and their partners Stockdale Land and Sainsbury for the development of the town centre – this will include a large supermarket, cinema, retail units, restaurants, a civic centre, parking and new library.

Bicester Town

Bicester Sports Centre has recently undergone a major revamp and opened with many new facilities, including a ten pin bowling facility in Spring 2009.

There are plans for 1500 new homes in South West Bicester and a new business park and hotel between Bicester Village and Bicester Avenue.

Bicester Vision History and Objectives:

Although some of the partners have been meeting informally for a couple of years, the Bicester Vision Partnership was officially launched in May 2008 at the first Bicester Symposium hosted by Cooper School.

The Partnership funds a full time Partnership Manager whose role includes working with the partners and many other of the town’s stakeholders to improve communications, promote the town internally and externally, organise events and encourage inward investment.
