A contractor is being sought to deliver the next phase of Bicester’s new Sports Village which will include the provision of a pavilion and car park.
At a meeting of Cherwell District Council’s executive last night (Monday) councillors agreed to begin the tendering process to appoint a developer to deliver the second phase of the £3.3 million project.
Cllr George Reynolds, deputy leader for Cherwell, said: “The Bicester Sports Village will not only benefit the existing people of Bicester, but future residents for generations to come. However until it is built, a project of this size will also offer us a unique opportunity to support the local economy by appointing a developer from within the region to undertake the work.
“The tendering process will offer a great opportunity for developers to come forward and really show what they can do by delivering a lasting project that Bicester can be proud of. We look forward to receiving submissions and appointing a contractor so work can begin on the next stage of this momentous project.”
The second phase of the project will involve the construction of a two-storey pavilion, synthetic pitch, floodlighting, car park and access. This is now expected to be completed in autumn 2015.
