On the 16th May 2014 the grounds of Dovecote Barn in Adderbury will host the third annual Cherwell Business Awards, which recognise the outstanding efforts of businesses and individuals.
If you are a business based in North Oxfordshire, then you are eligible to enter your company into one or more of the nine categories of awards. The Cherwell Business Awards 2014 will honour all types of businesses and charities, large or small, start-ups to well established businesses, including those praised for customer care, training and staff development. There is also an export award, innovation and creativity award as well as a category that acknowledges the business person of the year. You can either nominate your own business or another business you think should be considered for an award – but you need to make sure your entry is in before 31st January 2014.
This is the third year that The Cherwell Business Awards has celebrated the success of the district’s flourishing firms and exceptional entrepreneurs and the 2014 Cherwell Business Awards promises to be even bigger than before. These awards also have the prestigious association with the 2014 Oxfordshire Business Awards, as the three short-listed finalists in each category of the Cherwell Business Awards will be automatically submitted to the fabulous Oxfordshire Business Awards taking place in June 2014.
The awards are designed as a stepping stone for businesses to leverage their positions in local business communities; they allow the nominees and winners to interact and generate a great deal of exposure within the wider business community, as well as being a respectable accolade to shout about.
Mike Hawkins, Commercial Director of Hawkins Group, won the Established Business Award in 2013 after successfully demonstrating ambitious business growth, including job creation and outstanding business management. Mike comments “I would urge any local businesses to enter the Cherwell Business Awards. There are so many categories; there will be at least one that is applicable to budding entrepreneurs and their businesses.
Winning the award has had extremely positive impacts for my business. It’s a prestigious accolade which we can show to our staff and customers and, as finalists are automatically entered into the Oxfordshire Business Awards, it enabled me to win the Young Business Person of the Year award too!”
Ben Jackson, Chairman of Bicester and District Chamber of Commerce says “Last year these awards again delivered excellent exposure for the entrants and finalists. Entering for 2014 is a really good way of getting your business noticed and takes very little effort; have a go, you never know!”
Cllr Norman Bolster, Cherwell’s lead member for estates and economy says “All too often we hear of the problems associated with the UK recession but despite this there are many companies and individuals who continue to thrive and prosper. The purpose of these awards is to not only acknowledge this hard work in the face of economic challenges, but to promote the fantastic business district which we have right here on our doorstep.”
Working in partnership to organise The Cherwell Business Awards 2014 are Banbury & District Chamber of Commerce, Bicester and District Chamber of Commerce, Bicester Vision and Cherwell District Council, and are supported by Spratt Endicott Solicitors, Ellacotts LLP Accountants, Begbroke Science Park and Peepul24.
