Bicester based Zeta Specialist Lighting last night won the “Renewable Energy Design” Award for its Solar Paddle.
A panel of independent judges made its decisions as part of the Electra European Electronics Industry Awards 2012, held in London’s Park Plaza on the 12th December hosted by Rory Bremnor.
Solar Paddle is a solar powered road signage illuminator. Central to the unique design is a patented Photovoltaic (PV) solar panel. Contained within the panel are a state of the art electronic controller and the latest Lithium Ion Battery.
The Solar Paddle automatically turns on as night falls and will illuminate a road sign to transport regulation standards all night long – even in the UK winters.
This allows illumination of signs in rural locations where it would be cost prohibitive to run mains power.
Initial orders of 400 units were successfully deployed in the Olympic park, now orders are coming in from local authorities, airports and railway operators.
Anthony McClellan, Zeta’s commercial director, receiving the award said “It is great for our hard work to be recognised internationally, I hope this award will give the product recognition it deserves and allow us to grow the business significantly during 2013”
