Cooper School

The Cooper School

The Cooper School in Bicester is the towns largest school with over 1250 students on roll. Judged as Outstanding in the 2011 Ofsted inspection the school utilises a combination of traditional and innovative teaching methods. With the fast advancement in technology in todays world the school maintains its progress levels by making use of the latest developments including making use of Twitter and YouTube video production netbooks and projectors.

The 6th Form Block opened in September 2011 using the very latest building methods has recently proved to be carbon neutral due to the large photovoltaic array creating solar energy for use within the school and for exporting to the national grid.

As well as enhancing academic levels the school is gaining a high profile in the fields of Sport and Drama the recently awarded sliver certificate in School Games Kitemark and the forthcoming production of We Will Rock You bearing testimony to this.

The school also has strong links with the local community having been awarded the Bicester Business Community Initiative Award in 2010 taking part in a buddy scheme with the neighbouring Bardwell School and providing Christmas Lunches and Hampers for Senior Citizens within the town. The school endeavours to support local businesses by making optimum use of local suppliers for goods and services wherever possible.

We have a profound interest in the progress of the Town

“The Bicester Chamber of Commerce and Bicester Vision have a profound interest in the progress of the Town and understand that in some circumstances the continual increase in the numbers of houses and businesses will cause disquiet, to individuals and existing business alike. Change is always with us, and both the “Chamber” and “Vision” endeavour to keep the standards from the past while facing, and working, with the challenges of the future.”
