Cherwell District Council as a founding member of BicesterVision remains active in its support for the partnership. Through its economic development service, the Council works closely with BicesterVision partners to provide support to the town's job seekers, budding entrepreneurs, existing businesses and inward investors.
Bicester is one of the fastest growing towns in the country. To ensure the town develops in a sustainable way, a Shared Vision for the town has been adopted that seeks to create a vibrant place where people choose to live to work and to spend their leisure time in sustainable ways. To deliver the Eco Bicester Vision, work is being undertaken to ensure new development supports and integrates with the town whilst townwide initiatives are taking place to create a fantastic place to live and work. The aim is for at least one new job opportunity to be provided for every new house built in the town, providing local jobs; encouraging the evolution of a new economy for the town based on innovative businesses as the town moves towards a low carbon economy.

The Council and other members of the Cherwell Local Strategic Partnership have formed an Economic Development Strategy to 2016 shown at www.cherwell.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid7128. Bicester features throughout this Strategy: through the desire to help the development of its people businesses and place. The golden thread of a sustainable eco-economy is central and the combined roles of the private social and public sectors through partnerships such as BicesterVision are recognised throughout the action plan.
Sue Smith Cherwell District Councils Chief Executive and its representative on Bicester Visions Board explains:
"The Council is at the forefront of community leadership and making things happen. We've invested in the BicesterVision partnership since its inception providing resources and an office to help the partnership work at the heart of our Bicester community. With such exciting plans ahead the town needs everybody to pull together and Bicester Vision has an important role in enabling this to happen drawing upon the strengths of people committed to the town for the benefit of all."
